Instructions:

Charging the Battery

Use the charger that is included to fully charge the battery before use

Take the battery out of the dry box. Remove the yellow protective coverings from the battery terminals. Plug the charger into an electrical outlet. Take the positive (red) alligator clip from the charger and connect it to the positive (red) terminal on the battery. Attach the negative (black) alligator clip from the charger to the negative (black) battery terminal. A red light displayed on the charger indicates the battery is charging. The light will turn green the when the battery is fully charged.

To use the Flashback, attach the positive and negative battery connectors to the correct terminals on the 12-volt battery provided with the decoy.

After making sure there is no foreign matter interfering with the seal, close the waterproof box. When you are ready to deploy the decoy, attach the cable coming from the decoy to the cable on the battery box. Make sure the connection is screwed tight, and the rubber O ring is correctly in place on the connector. These fittings are designed to be tight. They may be a little difficult to secure at first, but as you use the decoy it will become easier. Once the connection is made, the head of the decoy will begin to rotate. Place the decoy in the desired location.

The foam flaps (wings) that cover the hole in the decoy that the head rotates through should rest on top of the hole. Do not tuck the foam flaps (wings) into the decoy.

The “skimming” or surface feeding action can be used by locking the decoy cord into the designed hook on the opposite side of the decoy. This prevents the head from rotating through the decoy and will move the decoy like a surface feeding duck adding ripples and movement to your spread. Vegetation or the bottom of the wetland you are hunting can also be used to “clutch” the decoy giving it a surface feeding action. This is a great way to use the decoy if the water is less than nine inches deep.

Periodic Maintenance

The Flashback may need to have its paint touched up periodically. The occasional spray of lubricant on the metal portions of the connectors from the battery box cord and the decoy cord will help prevent moisture buildup or rust. Shake out any water that remains in the decoy after use. Periodically check to make sure the cable glands tight.

Warnings:

Hunting Safely While Using the Flashback

The Flashback decoy is very realistic in its motion and has the ability to fool other hunters into believing it is a real duck. Please set up your Flashback in a way that does not leave you or others in your hunting party susceptible to other hunters who may confuse the decoy as a real duck and shoot in your direction. Be especially careful on public land and in areas where jump shooting ducks in a common practice.
